Day 3
After our big breakfast at hotel we were picked up by the tour driver for Mayabay at 7:30am . We were the only English speaking couple in the mini bus as others were all Russians. I booked the tour for 2 with Mr chai from Phuketsrc for 1600 Baht per person including free hotel transfer from places like Patong, Karon and Kata .Other areas you might have to pay extra. We reached the Marina, Phuket around 8:30 am, there were a lot of similar vans in the queue with lots of tourists departing to different islands. Most tour agencies are operated by foreigners but the staff are locals who speak English. Once we reached the V-marine tour office we were given a queue number with a color tag, for each boat they had different colors. Though they cater to a thousand people a day, they managed it well without any delay, Phuket marina has few shops were you can get your sunglasses, hats, scarf, snorkel equipment or swim suits. You better get swim wear as you will end up jumping into the sea when you are at Maya bay, the beach is so beautiful not to jump.
Phi Phi islands are a group of six islands located in Krabi province, off the south-west coast of Thailand. We were taken to the monkey islands first. Its just a small island with large trees which are made home by the monkeys. Some of them would even jump to our speedboat looking for food.
The speedboat stopped for a while for Snorkeling.
We went to Phi Phi Islands for lunch. Lunch was served at a large restaurant . Though there were not many dishes, it tasted good. After lunch, we hanged out for a while in the island before leaving to Maya Bay.
Maya Bay was alluring. It reminded me of some exotic locations in Hollywood movies. From the fine white sandy beach, the impressive and breath-taking formation of rocks to the clear and turquoise blue sea water. The beach was clean and beautiful. We didn’t want to come out of the water for a long time. The only disappointment here is that its very crowded with lots of tourists everyone looking for a spot to capture the beauty of Maya bay with selfie sticks and cameras. The time allocated here for our trip was also quite less compared to other islands.
We bid adieu to Maya Bay and reached our final destination Khai Islands. Now we felt this island can be skipped as there is nothing much to see here other than drinks bar and shops . It sure is a support system for the locals but there is absolutely no reason why we were made to spend 2 hrs in an island that doesn’t even have a good beach.
WOW these photos are spectacular !! Phuket seems like such insanely beautifully enchanting tropical paradise
This write up is pretty interesting and apart from all the other travel blogs which i have read so far this seems to be the best. Appreciate Ananya’s keen observation which has helped her in detailing every single bit of their travel. Photos are magnificent and they added cherry to the icing. The perfect combo is here, a good writer and a beautiful photographer made the blog worth reading. Long way to go Anu and AJ.
